Germany, as one of the main trendsetters of the global automotive industry, once again confirms its status. The KIRA project is actively developing in the country, the purpose of which is to integrate unmanned vehicles into the public transport system.
In the future, autonomous electric shuttles should take to the streets of cities, which:
— move in normal urban traffic;
— develop "normal" speeds for roads;
— work in strictly defined service areas;
— complement existing public transport, solving the problem of the "last mile".
At the current stage, Germany is focused on developing processes: safety, interaction with other road users, and the work of AI in real conditions.
For the tests, the Germans use self-driving cars based on the Chinese brand Nio. Chinese companies, in turn, are actively sharing test videos on social media — and not without pride. This is another confirmation that the Chinese car industry has long gone beyond the "alternative" and has become a full-fledged player on a global level.
